Needle Felted Sculptures

Year:

In March 2013 I had a trial 3 days at Freeman College in Sheffield and there i had an experience with felting. I wanted to try it more as i enjoyed that there was so much you could do with abit of dyed wool. That Christmas my parents got me a needle felting kit and with lots of practise i began to make sculptures in wool.

In 2016 when i left Wakefield College i set up Auty Crafts with the help of my mum and i began to sell my needle felted fairies for £15 per fairy they sold very well and i had many comments from people asking how i made them and how long they took to make.

I wanted to branch out and make animals so i started with horses... hmmm... i wont put any photos on here as the last time i got one of the horses out my mum would hide it under her coat as even she thought it was bad (hahaha).

Over the years since i have continued to make sculptures in wool. i usually make them as summer projects however in more recent years i have struggled to sculpt in the medium as i am allergic to the wool. the reaction usually lasts a day or two and i have cold like symptoms. Also in the covid lockdown (the January 2021 lockdown) my felted sculptures got a little weird... you'll see what i mean when you see the needle felted false teeth i made to represent my self harming.

In October 2019 i made a giant needle felted Maine Coon cat named Raven and i was one of 3 winners in a halloween competition. i have no finished photos of Raven as he now lives in the loft due to his size and that he freaks out my mum.

Animals names:
Anthony the Ant
Raven the Maine Coon Cat
Kai the Butterfly Koi Carp
Rosie the Rex coated Rat
