Barn Owl in Flight (Barnabas)

Barn Owl in Flight was sculpted while on the Access to HE art course at Barnsley College. The project was based around peace. I was unsure where to start so I asked my friends what they find peaceful. The overwhelming response was that being out in nature alone was peaceful, after being inspired by the work of Brendan Hesmondhalgh, I chose to sculpt a barn owl.

Barn Owl in Flight (Barnabas) was sculpted in Asharaf Hanna Stoneware clay and painted with iron oxide, manganese oxide, black and yellow underglazes.
Barn Owl in Flight (Barnabas) has a wingspan of 92cm
